Supermoon

One day the earth sat in blissful repose
Gazing at the sun

If only the sun and I could be closer
Then more perfect would be the eternal day
She said to the moon

The moon stopped from pulling the tides
Thought for a moment then spoke

Not too hot not too cold
Not too young nor too old
Not too near like venus
Not too far like mars

Not in the immediate vicinity of supernovas
Or in close proximity to binary stars
No need for change when things are just right
Precisely as they are

The earth felt gladdened and was no longer saddened
And the moon returned to making waves
As though nothing had happened

Good morning starshine
The earth she says hello
